Yesterday was an eventful last day of the semester in English class. We had our white elephant Christmas gift exchange and a competitive Salad Bowl game to wrap up our time together before break. Happy Holidays!
'English Choice Book Semester Project Presentations'
Students chose a book to read, for fun, over the fall semester and then created multigenre writing pieces to represent their interpretations of their chosen read. They were passionate, creative and captivating with their presentations!!! Very proud of their hard work!
On Tuesday December 16th a few River City Construction Reps came out to the school and were able to give us a donation of $5,000 from the fire pit that we had donated to their bags tournament a few weeks ago!!!! We are planning a field trip with them in the future to one of their job sites. We also are so excited to be able to work with them some more in the future. Congratulations to our December Staff Member of the Month-Mr. Brett Grant. Mr. Grant is our Industrial Arts Teacher. He was nominated by another staff member who said the following "I love how he has let the students get creative and expand the IA department to include auto mechanics and a retail store. Elmwood 34, Alwood 14. Led by Andrea Glenn 14 points and Adelyn Magee 6 points. Natalie Babcock led the charge on defense and contributed 5 points. 11 girls played and we held our opponent to just 14 points. Great team effort!
Mr. Pratt challenged his high school music appreciation class to an end of semester Kahoot review. A few came close to knocking him off the top of the podium but not close enough!
