Discovered in the late 1700's, Charles's Law states that the volume and temperature of a gas have a constant relationship. V/T of a hot gas must equal V/T of the same gas when it is cold, assuming pressure remains constant.

Dr. Tiffany Fracchia, Vanderbilt University Department of Anthropology, spoke to chemistry today about forensic anthropology. Specifically, she discussed her research focus, isotope analysis to identify missing persons, and 'the body farm' at the University of Tennessee. She is an absolute expert in her field and gave a fascinating talk.

Families - the "left and found" table has sprouted this spring. If your child seems to have just walked away from a hoodie, water bottle, computer mouse, have them visit the 'giving table' to retrieve what they left.

We all know that March has its NCAA "March Madness", so we started our own music competition bracket in Spanish class during March---MANIA MUSICAL. Classes hear 2 Spanish songs and vote which they liked better. Then votes are compiled from all high school Spanish classes, and a winner is declared. We have reached our "final four". We will be able to declare this year's winner of Mania Musical on April 27. It's so much fun to hear all kinds of music from various Hispanic artists.

The water we drink has specific ratios of oxygen isotopes. Where a person lives or has travelled can be determined by analyzing hair samples for those isotopes. Using an 'isoscape' map and the hair analysis, has led to solving missing persons gases. Our analogue lab uses beans to represent oxygen isotopes.
